Jackson is enrolled as PhD Student Researcher at the Institute of Climate Change and Adaptation, University of Nairobi where he is focusing on the intersection between land and climate change Adaptation in Arid and Semi-Arid Lands of Kenya. His research topic is Climate Change Adaptation Dilemmas under Competing Claims Over Land Between Large-Scale Land Investors and Pastoralists in Samburu Ecosystem, Kenya. His overarching research question is: How do contested claims to land between large scale land owners and pastoralists affect the ability of pastoralists to adapt to impacts of climate change, and what are the statutory and non-statutory mechanisms for dealing with these contestations? Jackson holds a Masters Degree in Disasters, Adaptation and Development from King’s College London (2013), and graduated with a First-Class Honors undergraduate degree from Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (Kenya) where he studied Disaster Management and International Diplomacy between 2007 and 2011. With his seven years practical experience, Jackson has a rich history working with pastoralist communities in East Africa, for-profit and non-profit organization management industries in Kenya. He has particularly been involved with development research projects on water, land and livestock, as well as projects aimed at strengthening sustainable utilization of natural resources in arid and semi-arid regions.
